Showing up before and after

The Starting Gun

These are the hoodies passed around during warm-ups, thrown on after a PR, and somehow present at every meet like they’re part of the official uniform. They’ve got that perfect weight, that broken-in feel, and a logo that quietly says, “yeah, I run.”

People love them because they earn their reputation the hard way—mile after mile, season after season. They’re not just comfortable, they’re familiar. Reliable. A little nostalgic. The hoodie you grab without thinking because it’s been there for every early morning, every cold start line, every finish worth remembering.

A legacy built over generations

Schwab's 2nd Wind was founded in 1979 with Harold Schwab and his father Ray Schwab. It started as a small resoling company based out of Ray's basement. Harold had a great track career racing for Centereach, University of Pennsylvania, and placing third in the Olympic Trials competing in the 400 hurdles.

Shortly after, it moved to a location in the village of Port Jefferson and started selling new sneakers rather than resoling. Steve Schwab, Harold's brother joined the business and helped form the screen printing division of Schwab's 2nd Wind.

In 1983 the business moved to its new and current location in East Setauket. As Harolds family grew, so did his staff. His son Joe started working as a summer job in middle school and never looked back. Our focus is having a great knowledge of sneakers and fitting them correctly to individual customers as needed.
